(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 8 - Basilicata's centre-right Governor
Vito Bardi was indicted in a healthcare probe Friday.
The preliminary hearing judge (GUP) of Potenza Francesco Valente
sent gthe post-Berlusconi Forza Italia (FI) official to trial
on charges of complicity in inducing people to give or promise
benefits.
As part of the probe, on 7 October 2022, the investigation led
to 2 arrests: the FI group leader in the Regional Council,
Francesco Piro, ended up in prison, and the former mayor of
Lagonegro, Maria Di Lascio, was placed under house arrest.
Elected for the first time in 2019, Bardi was reconfirmed as
governor last April.
Three councilors of the Regional Council in office at the time
of the alleged offences were also sent to trial. The first
hearing will be on 20 January 2025. (ANSA).
