(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 11 - The interior ministry on Monday
announced a plan to crack down on rising youth violence in the
metropolitan area of Naples.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Interior
Minister Matteo Piantedosi at the prefecture of the southern
port city with top local officials including Mayor Gaetano
Manfredi.
As part of the plan, Piantedosi ordered to tighten security
measures around nightlife spots that most attract youths and to
install additional video surveillance cameras in a few months.
The measure follows the murder of Arcangelo Correra, 18, who was
allegedly shot dead on Saturday by his teen cousin.
Overall, three teens have been killed in the area of Naples in
just over two weeks.
Before Correra, Emanuele Tufano, 15, was shot dead in downtown
Naples in the night between October 23 and 24 in a gunfight
between teen gangs.
On November 2, 19-year-old Santo Romano was allegedly shot dead
by a 17-year-old who confessed to investigators that he had
murdered Romano because he had "dirtied" his designer shoes.
