(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 12 - A round of inspections at canteens in
around 700 Italian kindergartens, schools and universities found
irregularities at one in four, the Carabinieri's NAS health
police said on Tuesday.
They said the breaches included cases of hygienic and structural
issues, including the presence of insects and rodent droppings
at some sites where food was being prepared or served.
Other issues regards canteens not having the proper permits,
meals that were poor in quantity and-or quality, the use of food
whose origin could not be traced and the failure to state the
presence of allergens.
The NAS launched the ongoing campaign of inspections with the
health ministry at the start of the current school year. (ANSA).
