(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 16 - Taylor Fritz beat Alexander Zverev in
the ATP Finals semi-finals in Turin Saturday and will face the
winner of the other semi between Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud
in the final of the season-ending event Sunday.
World number one Sinner plays Ruud Saturday night.
The American world number five beat the German world number two
and pre-match favourite 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3).
South Tyrolean Sinner, who lost last year's Turin final to Serb
great Novak Djokovic before winning this year's Australian and
US Opens, will face world number seven Ruud of Norway starting
at 8 pm Italian time.
Sinner, who is facing a possible drugs ban, is the overwhelming
favourite for final victory and has already eaten Fritz in the
US Open final and earlier in this tournament.
Ruud scored a surprise victory over an out of sourts world
number three and four-time slam winner Carlos Alcaraz of Spain
this week.
The last American to win the tournament was 'Pistol Pete'
Sampras 25 years ago. (ANSA).
