(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 19 - Premier Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday
she was "sorry" about the centre right losing regional elections
in Emilia-Romagna and Umbria but "optimistic" about the level of
support shown for her rightwing coalition.
The centre left held Emilia-Romagna, which it has never lost, in
Sunday and Monday's elections while retaking Umbria from the
centre right to make the score in local polls 12-3 for Meloni
since she became Italy's first woman premier in September 2022.
"The citizens are always right. I am sorry for the result and
the non-confirmation of the government in Umbria", Meloni told a
press briefing on the sidelines of the G20 in Rio de Janeiro.
