(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 8 - The Italian Yeman Crippa has won the
silver medal at the European Cross Country Championships
underway in Antalya (Turkey).
The only one to precede the Italian at the finish line was the
Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who was the favorite and won
the gold with an eight-second advantage.
Third place and bronze medal for the Spaniard Therry
Ndikumwenayo.
The 28-year-old Ethiopia born Crippa said:
"Today I fought from the beginning, I went forward because I
wanted to keep the pace high. To beat these guys, it wasn't
enough for me to go fast on the last lap and so I wanted to put
it hard right away. In the final I was afraid that the others
would come from behind, but that wasn't the case".
"Finally a silver on the field... - he continued -, because the
one in Lisbon came due to the disqualification of an opponent.
Italy with five medals? As captain I'm proud, after Rome and
Paris we're closing an extraordinary year, probably never seen
before". (ANSA).
