(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 9 - A man who stabbed his 24-year-old ex
girlfriend in the back outside a supermarket near Monza Monday
had already attacked her in the past and had been placed under
house arrest with a restraining order towards her, police said.
The man was picked up by police near Pavia after the attack,
which took place at Giussano.
The man had been given leave from house arrest but violated the
restraining order to go and meet the woman, who had agreed to
meet at the supermarket, police said.
The woman is in hospital but not in a life threatening
condition.
Italy is enduring a long wave of gender violence and femicide.
