(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 9 - Revenue from a local tax on overnight
stays by tourists is expected to top 976 million euros this year
and climb to over 1.5 billion euros next year, according to a
study drafted by the JFC tourism advisory agency published in
advance by ANSA.
"Among regions, Lazio ranked first with a revenue of over
295million 2,000" said JFC CEO Massimo Feruzzi.
"Lombardy followed with 108 million 235,000, Tuscany with 100
million 360,000, Veneto with 98 million 9,000".
Feruzzi said such figures "indicate how this tax is considered
by municipalities as an essential tool to acquire resources",
the majority of which are used for interventions that are
unrelated to the tourism sector. (ANSA).
