(People's Daily Online) Air China International Corp. has signed
a memorandum of understanding with Honeywell Aerospace Group:
the GX Aviation air network connection program will be tested by
Air China on the A330 airplane. Air China will become the first
airline company to test the GX Ka waveband connection program in
cooperation with the International Maritime Satellite
Organization and Honeywell. The test is expected to begin in the
second quarter of 2015. GX Aviation air network connection
technology has brought unprecedented surfing speed and
bandwidth, which will help to run wireless network at an
altitude of 40 thousand feet, and provide passengers with the
same network experience as in an office or family environment.
With the help of GX Aviation, passengers will enjoy a download
speed during flight that is expected to be 60% higher than in
the present air network environment. Bill Peltola,
vice-president of International Maritime Satellite Organization,
pointed out that cooperation with Air China is a further
indication that GX Aviation is progressing steadily, and the
company expects to be able to offer global services to all types
of airplanes at all times.
