(People's Daily Online) By the end of 2013, Harbin Aviation had
made a historical breakthrough by delivering 13 Y-12 series
aircraft to domestic and overseas customers, a new high in the
volume delivered; a total of 25 Z-9 helicopters were delivered
over the whole year. This year, Harbin Aviation has signed
purchase contracts for 8 Y-12 series aircraft with 3 users. Yu
Feng, deputy of the National People's Congress and
deputy-general manager of AVIC China Helicopter Research and
Development Institute, said in a media interview on March 6 that
the markets for the Y-12 and the Z-9 are booming as a result of
30 years of continuous independent innovation. In recent years
Harbin Aviation has been actively exploring the civil market for
the Y-12. Overseas markets include Asia, Africa, Central
America, Oceania and North America through long-term strategic
cooperation with CATIC and AVIC International.
Based on improvements and modification, the Z-9 has been widely
applied in such fields as domestic and overseas official
business, tourism, rescue work, scientific investigation, and
law-enforcement. To date, more than 50 Z-9 helicopters have been
sold to more than 10 countries/regions. Users of the first batch
came to Harbin Aviation to take delivery of aircraft in March
2014. Another 13 Z-9 helicopters will be delivered by the end of
November 2014.
