Italian incomes rose slightly last year, Istat reports

(ANSA) - Rome, April 7 - Household purchasing power fell by
1.1% in 2013 on average, while consumption dropped by 1.3%,
statistical agency Istat said Monday.
The figures reflect the lingering effects of the worst
recession since the Second World War.
Still, the economy began to show signs of recovery in the third quarter, which was reflected in Istat's reports that incomes rose very slightly on average last year, by 0.3%.
At the same time, household savings also rose in the final quarter of last year, up by 0.4% in the final three months of 2013 compared with 2012.
