Soccer: Juve face pressure test after Roma narrow lead

Soccer: Juve face pressure test after Roma narrow lead (ANSA) - Rome, April 7 - Juventus face a pressure test when they take on Livorno later on Monday after second-placed AS Roma narrowed their lead to five points with a 3-1 win at Cagliari Sunday.

The Turin giants, who are aiming for their third consecutive league title, were 14 points ahead just two weeks ago.

But Roma took advantage of Juve losing at Napoli eight days ago, beating Sassuolo 2-0, and then sank Parma 4-2 in a game they had in hand last week before a Mattia Destro hat-trick gave them victory in Sardinian to blow some life back into the title race.

Juve now need to triumph over third-bottom Livorno to restore their lead to eight points, with six games to go, and deflate Roma's hopes they might crack in the final straight. "They'll be under pressure. They are obliged to win," said Roma's French coach Rudi Garcia, who has transformed a talented side into scudetto contenders after several disappointing seasons since arriving in the close season. "The race for first place is not over".
