Berlusconi may be ordered to help elderly disabled - report (ANSA) - Rome, April 8 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi may be asked to serve the remaining year of a four-year tax-fraud conviction by doing community service at a home for disabled elderly people, the website of Avvenire, the daily of Italian bishops conference CEI, reported Tuesday.

A Milan judge is set to decide on Thursday whether Berlusconi should serve the sentence under house arrest or do community service.

The 77-year-old billionaire is too old to actually go to jail here.

The three other years of the sentence were covered by an amnesty. According to Avvenire, a report prepared by judicial office recommended that a Milan court tell Berlusconi to work one day a week at a home for the elderly.
