New Eatalty outlet to open in Verona
High-end food hall to create jobs, showcase for local producers
08 April, 18:00The new outlet dedicated to the pick of Italian food and drink is to be located in the area once occupied by the city wholesale market opposite the exhibition centre Veronafiere, which hosts the prestigious annual international Vinitaly trade fair currently underway in the city. The project - a joint venture between Eataly and Fondazione Cariverona, which will donate the structure - will require at least 10 million euros in investment and take two years to complete.
The premises will be designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, whose portfolio includes the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Kyobo Tower in Seoul, providing a showcase for some 200 local producers Once open the Eataly outlet will provide an estimated 250 jobs and generate on average 30 million euros a year.
The opening will take to 12 the number of Eataly outlets in Italy. There are also stores in the United States, Japan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
"With this project I think we will stop opening new outlets in Italy and concentrate on our foreign 'mission'," Farinetti said.
