Hopes other two cities' HQs will follow

Ukraine takes back control of eastern city admin building (ANSA) - Rome, April 8 - Ukraine on Tuesday took back from pro-Russia separatists a regional administration building in the eastern city of Kharkiv and voiced the hope that buildings in Luhansk and Donetsk would also be freed.

On Monday demonstrators urging independence for the region, along the lines of that declared by the peninsula of Crimea, seized government buildings in the three cities.

Russia recently annexed Crimea following a referendum.

Kiev and the West say the referendum in the peninsula, where the majority of people are Russian speakers, was illegal.

Moscow has thousands of troops massed along its border with eastern Ukraine. It insists it has no intention of invading Ukraine but says it reserves the right to defend ethnic Russians in the country.
