Sport is the victim in a criminal
probe into the body organising the 2026 Winter Olympics at
Cortina and Milan, Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President
Giovanni Malagò, who is also head of the Milan-Cortina body,
said Tuesday.
Former Fondazione Milano-Cortina 2026 CEO Vincenzo Novari is
among three people under investigation in a probe into alleged
bribery and perverting the free market.
"There is maximum willingness to provide all the papers, but I
think that once again, beyond the hope that there is goodness in
the work and guarantee of innocence, sport in terms of image is
a victim of all this", he said.
"The public prosecutor's office wanted clarifications on
positions concerning three people: the former CEO, a sector
manager and a businessman," he added.
"I remember then that the IOC asked and demanded a presidency
linked to sport and a CEO linked and designated by the world of
politics.
