The Italian Antitrust Authority said
Wednesday that it has opened an investigation into online
retailer Shein over potentially misleading promotional messages
on its Italian website.
The Authority said in a statement that "promotional messages on
the Italian website Shein.com relating to the environmental
sustainability" of the fast fashion brand's products "could be
misleading/omissive".
The note explained that the probe was opened into "Infinite
Styles Services CO. Limited based in Dublin, which manages
Shein's Italian website, for being potentially misleading" in
statements related to the environmental sustainability of
clothes sold by the brand in the sections "SHEINTHEKNOW",
"evoluSHEIN" and "Social responsibility" of the website.
