Violence against women is a social
and cultural plague, Premier Giorgia Meloni said on the
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Monday.
"Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence
against Women. A day that leads us to remember the news of our
days with still many, too many cases of violence and
feminicides. A social and cultural plague that does not allow us
to look the other way, but that pushes us to reflect and act
with every possible action aimed at protecting victims from the
abomination of violence", Meloni said on social media.
"As a Government, since the beginning of our mandate, we have
put in place tools for contrast, prevention and safety.
"A work that must continue in the awareness that the
contribution of each of us can make a difference.
"We must do it in the name of all those who are no longer with
us today: mothers, sisters, daughters, friends.
"1522 is the number to call to talk, report and receive
immediate help, at any time.
"Every voice that is raised against violence is a step towards a
safer society, free from fear.
"Remember: you are not alone. #25November".
