The father of Giulia Cecchettin said
after his daughter's ex Filippo Turetta got life for her
femicide Tuesday that he felt "we have all lost as a society" in
the face of gender violence.
"My feeling is that we have all lost as a society. I am neither
more relieved nor sadder than yesterday or tomorrow. It's a
strange feeling, I thought I would remain impassive", Gino
Cecchettin told journalists, after Turetta's sentence was read
out.
"Justice has been done," he added.
"I respect it, but we should do more as human beings. Gender
violence must be fought with prevention, with concepts that are
perhaps a little too distant. As a human being I feel defeated".
