Yehia Elgaml, the father of
19-year-old Ramy who died on November 24 in Milan while he was
being chased on a scooter by Carabinieri police told ANSA on
Wednesday that the officers involved in the fatal car chase are
the "wrong Carabinieri", after a video broadcast on Tuesday
night appeared to show that the security officials intentionally
rammed into the motorbike.
"What I saw in the video, one two three, they were the wrong
Carabinieri", he said of the officers involved in the chase.
"But there are also the real Carabinieri.
"They are not the same and I have confidence in the right ones",
said Yehia Elgaml.
Quoting the Carabinieri officers' in the video who apparently
rejoiced after Ramy and the scooter's driver Fares Bouzidi fell
- "he fell, good", an officer can be heard saying - the father
said "this is not good".
However, he expressed "100% confidence in the Italian
judiciary".
