The Vatican wants to get to the
bottom of the case of Emanuela Orlandi, the 15-year-old resident
of the tiny city state who disappeared while returning home from
a flute lesson in Rome on 22 June 1983, her brother Pietro
Orlandi said after meeting Vatican prosecutor Alessandro Diddi
on Tuesday.
"It was a long, positive meeting," Pietro Orlandi told La7
television after an eight-hour encounter.
"Diddi himself told me that he had a mandate from the secretary
(of State) and from Pope Francis to clarify things 100%, to
investigate every aspect and not go easy on anyone, from the
bottom to the top.
"This is a positive thing.
"I told him everything I wanted to say and put down on the
record the names and surnames from all the private
investigations".
The girl's disappearance sparked an intense media frenzy in
Italy that has resulted in the case being called "Italy's most
famous unsolved mystery".
Emanuela was the fourth of five children of Ercole and Maria
Orlandi.
Her father was a Vatican employee and the family lived inside
Vatican City.
