Hoteliers association Federalberghi
said Tuesday that it estimates that 5.2 million people will be
away from home on vacation over the long weekend created by the
January 6 Epiphany national holiday.
It said 3.054 million of those travellers are having a long
vacation that started at Christmas while another 242,000 are on
a break that began with the New Year.
Federalberghi said another 1.868 million are taking trips
specifically for the Epiphany weekend.
Federalberghi President Bernabò Bocca said the Christmas holiday
period was wrapping up "beautifully".
He added, however, that 34% of holidaymakers were cutting the
length of their trips because of higher prices.
