The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Andrea Ferrari, met the President of the Canadian Space Agency, Lisa Campbell, at the John H. Chapman Centre, Headquarters of the Agency, in Quebec.
During the meeting, the strong interest in a deeper cooperation in the aerospace field was confirmed, also in view of the Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation launched by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the end of the G7 Summit in Borgo Egnazia, as well as in light of the Canadian government's intention to strengthen its aerospace sector, as demonstrated by the significant resources recently allocated to the sector and the announcement of the establishment of a National Space Council. In this regard, the President of the Agency pointed to the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), to be held next October in Milan, as an ideal opportunity to launch new bilateral collaborations in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding finalised last October 2021 between the Italian Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Ferrari visited some Departments of the Canadian Space Agency, including those dedicated to robotics, health in space and astronaut training, areas that could offer opportunities for bilateral synergies.
