The Italian business landscape and the attractiveness of its market for Asian investors once again took centre stage as part of the 'Made in Italy, Shaping the World' series, launched last February by the Italian Embassy in Singapore in collaboration with Bloomberg.
The third event in the series featured Andrea Bonomi, founder and CEO of Investindustrial, and Nele Cornelis, Executive Director of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Singapore, in a dynamic conversation today before an audience of investors, analysts and industry experts gathered at the Italian Embassy in the heart of Singapore's financial district.
Opening the event, Ambassador Dante Brandi emphasised the importance of the initiative to consolidate economic ties between Italy and Singapore, also in view of the official meetings that the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will have in a few days with President of the Republic Mattarella and Prime Minister Meloni during his visit to Italy.
Many stimuli emerged on the vision and strategies that have guided the growth of Investindustrial, one of the leading investment companies in Europe with a portfolio that has over time included names of absolute appeal and industrial value such as Aston Martin, Ducati, Ermenegildo Zegna and Eataly. Bonomi provided stimulating assessments on the potential of the Asian market for European companies, but also on the attractiveness of Italy and Europe for portfolio diversification, which involves a lot of Asian capital, both public and private.
Also shared were assessments on the importance for the private sector worldwide to incorporate sustainability and innovation aspects into business decisions to create long-term value, and to develop effective digitisation strategies in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
