The Director of the Ice Agency, Simona Bernardini, and the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney, Paolo Barlera, celebrated the art and innovation of Italian design, in the presence of the Ambassador of Italy to Australia, Paolo Crudele, through an event at the Space Furniture showroom in Alexandria (Sydney). It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse oneself in the latest trends and innovations presented at the Salone del Mobile, and to learn more about the Italian design scene, a statement underlined. Over the course of the evening, Rebecca Caratti, editor-in-chief of Vogue Living Australia, and renowned Milanese architect, Alessandro Colombo, an ambassador of Italian design around the world, shared their experiences, exploring the themes of innovation and sustainability in Italian design, distinctive elements of creativity.
"Italian designers have always pushed the boundaries, combining tradition and innovation. They have defined the evolution of what it means to create beauty in the contemporary world. Their work is not only about pleasing the aesthetic element, but also about improving the quality of life and creating experiences that resonate on an emotional level," said Ambassador Crudele, adding that "furniture is one of the sectors where the trait of Italian creativity is most easily recognisable and the Salone del Mobile has become over time a pillar for the projection of Italian design recognised worldwide.
During the Italian Design Day celebration event in Sydney, attendees had the opportunity to appreciate exclusive furniture pieces directly from the Salone del Mobile 2024, displayed in Space Furniture's elegant showroom. The evening also coincided with the launch of the 'Catalogue of Italian Design in Australia and New Zealand', a comprehensive guide to the excellence of Italian design in Australia and New Zealand edited by the Ice Agency.
