'A year of integrated and cultural promotion of the Italian Embassy in Spain' This is the beautiful volume published by the Italian Embassy in Madrid, which traces the integrated promotion activities and important economic, cultural, scientific and sports diplomacy initiatives carried out in Spain during 2022. For each of them, the contributions of the organisations and partners with which the diplomatic office collaborated are collected.
The 160-page book, in Spanish, is the brainchild of Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, current secretary general of the Farnesina, Italy's ambassador to Spain and Andorra in 2000-2023. The project was developed and edited by Roberto Nocella, head of the embassy's economic and commercial office and coordinator for integrated promotion in Spain. The book also contains a summary of the activities promoted in 2023, when the baton of the Italian embassy in Madrid passed to the current ambassador Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi.
An itinerary in 16 chapters that 'allows us to relive the emotions and some of the most significant moments in which the Italian and Spanish partners have tried to diversify as much as possible, establishing new collaborations and synergies, and expanding the embassy's range of action beyond the consolidated Madrid-Barcelona 'binary,' notes ambassador Riccardo Guariglia in the introduction.
This volume gives an account of the wide areas of activity of the diplomatic office: music, art, history, design, sport - an area in which the embassy in Madrid has played a pioneering role - economic promotion and Rome's candidature for the Expo, science, innovation and space.
"With the publication of the texts of some of the protagonists who collaborated with the Italian Embassy, we want to frame, months later, the initiatives carried out from a slightly different angle that goes beyond the photographic 'snapshot' of a press release," points out the current Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. At the same time, thanks to the transcription of speeches delivered at the time by Ambassador Guariglia and articles selected in collaboration with Teodora Danisi, the first embassy secretary and head of cultural promotion, the reader has comprehensive information to draw on.
Thanks to QR codes, the volume also provides access to audiovisual material, some of it previously unpublished, and makes it possible to relive conferences, exhibitions, presentations and concerts.
