The Italian Ambassador in Montevideo, Fabrizio Petri, presented Professor Mario Lubetkin with the 'Caccuri 2024 Literary Prize - Italian Excellence in the World'. The ceremony, organised in collaboration with the Calabrian Association of Uruguay and held at the ambassador's residence, was attended by representatives of Uruguayan institutions and society, the Italian community in the country, the diplomatic corps and the United Nations. Also taking part in the event via live streaming from Italy were the president of the Accademia dei Caccuriani, Adolfo Barone, and the coordinator of the Prize, Eugenio Marino.
During the evening, a congratulatory message was read out by the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, who had been on a mission to Uruguay last April, as well as congratulations sent by the Member of Parliament elected in the Foreign Constituency, South America Division, Fabio Porta. Mario Lubetkin, an Italian-Uruguayan journalist and expert in communication on sustainable development issues, is currently deputy director-general of the FAO and the organisation's regional representative for Latin America and the Caribbean.
