The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, went on a mission to Sisak, a town about 50 km southeast of Zagreb, the capital of the Sisak and Moslavina region. During the visit, the Ambassador took part in the opening ceremony of the event (masterclass by Italian chef Paco Zanobini and culinary competition for young chefs) organised by the ICE office in Zagreb, in collaboration with the ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine and the Croatian Culinary Institute Kul-In, on the occasion of the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.
The mission offered the opportunity for meetings with the local authorities (President of the Sisak and Moslavina Region, Ivan Celjak, and the Mayor of Sisak, Kristina Ikić Baniček) and with the Director of the Sisak Civic Museum, Prof. Marijan Bogatić, during which the common will to intensify bilateral cooperation was underlined.
In this regard, the President of the Region of Sisak and Moslavina, in thanking Italy for the support provided to Sisak after the earthquake of 2020, called for a greater presence of Italian companies, which will be able to benefit from the advantageous local tax policy applied to foreign investors . The mayor also hoped to strengthen cooperation in the cultural field, also in view of the forthcoming opening of a municipal library. Finally, Ambassador Trichilo visited the ABS steel plant (belonging to the Danieli Group) - an important local industrial reality - and met other Italian entrepreneurs active in the area.
