The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, went on a mission to Vižinada, Torre and Poreč, towns in Istria, a region where the indigenous Italian minority in the country is concentrated. Of particular importance was the stop in Rook, where the Ambassador participated, together with the President of the Veneto Regional Council, Roberto Ciambetti, in the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the so-called 'Beggiato Law', adopted by the Veneto Region in 1994 to promote the recovery and enhancement of the cultural heritage of Veneto origin in Istria and Dalmatia. The Ambassador also met the mayors of the localities visited, as well as the presidents and representatives of the local Italian communities, with the president of the Italian Union Tremul and his executive council Corva in attendance.
The talks made it possible to renew the common commitment to continue working together for the promotion of the Italian language and culture in Croatia, all the more so as bilingualism is in force in all three of the aforementioned municipalities.
During the mission, some cultural assets were also visited, such as the Euphrasian basilica in Poreč, a UNESCO heritage site,
as well as Italian companies in the food and wine sector.
