"Pakistan is a strategic country, wedged in an area of the world that is important for regional and global geopolitical interests. In Italy we host the largest Pakistani community in the EU, 300 thousand people, who also contribute to the wellbeing of our host societies. In this sense, for some time now we have also been developing trade relations with this great country, we want to have a greater presence of Italy and for this reason we have recently opened an ICE office in Islamabad'. Ambassador to Islamabad Marilina Armellin told ANSA on the sidelines of the Ambassadors' Conference.
A great deal of work is also being done on the cultural front, the ambassador explained, reporting that "we will soon enter the new embassy and residence complex that we are finishing building, where we will house the largest auditorium in Islamabad. So we are ready to increase our cultural presence in this country with many events," the ambassador added, recalling that Pakistan already hosts "two of the oldest archaeological missions we have abroad".
