"I am particularly satisfied with the implementation of the 2020 agreement, which has made it possible, after many years, i.e. since 1969, to introduce Italian into Libyan schools. We have started with about twenty high schools: in Tripoli, Benghazi, Homs, Misurata, and I was also able to visit one of these schools where Libyan schoolgirls have started to learn Italian". This was said by Gianluca Alberini, Italian Ambassador in Tripoli, on the sidelines of the 17th Conference of Italian Ambassadors in the World being held at the Farnesina.
Dwelling on the situation in Libya, the ambassador noted that "the Libyan crisis has been going on for too many years. For us,' he added, 'Libya is a strategic priority and the government is working hard for its stability: the Prime Minister has carried out no less than four missions in Tripoli, but also in Benghazi, because,' he explained, 'we talk to everyone. With regard to the issue of immigration, "we need Libyan cooperation to combat the phenomenon of human traffickers"; the results achieved so far "are good", the ambassador noted, "and we are working together with the European Union as well to help the Libyan authorities strengthen their structures, also to provide assistance to migrants. We have obtained some results,' he concluded.
