Laura Ranalli is the new Italian Ambassador to Ghana. She takes over from Ambassador Daniela d'Orlandi.
Born in Avezzano (L'Aquila) on 21 June 1976, she graduated with honours in Classical Philology from Rome's La Sapienza University in 2000 and, from 2000 to 2002, took postgraduate courses in International Relations at the Italian Society for International Organisation. Following a competitive examination, he entered the diplomatic career on 23 December 2002.
After his first assignment at the Directorate General for Cultural Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2006 he served as First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Warsaw.
From 2010 to 2014 she served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Vilnius, with the functions of First Secretary and, since 2013, Counsellor. Returning to the Farnesina in 2015, she is assigned to the Directorate General for the European Union: first as Deputy Head of Office for Mediterranean European Countries, then, from 2018, as Head of Office for Central and Eastern European Countries.
In October 2020 he returned to Warsaw as Deputy Head of Mission, and was Acting Chargé d'Affaires between 9 November 2022 and 12 February 2023.
From August 2024 to December 2024 she serves at the Directorate General for Globalisation - Central Directorate for Sub-Saharan African Countries at Farnesina.
In 2019, she was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
She is married to Piotr Kępiński, Polish poet and literary critic .
