Black mark day on the Autostrade
Alto Adriatico network. Yesterday's forecast is confirmed:
critical traffic on the A4 towards Trieste with queues at Lisert
and on the A23 towards Tarvisio (Udine). Queues also at the
Latisana exit. Queues at times near the A28 connection towards
Trieste. There is a record number of transits on the motorway
sections of the A4 (Venice-Trieste), A23 (Udine Sud-Palmanova),
A34 (Villesse-Gorizia), A28 (Portogruaro-Pordenone-Conegliano),
A57 (Mestre ring road up to Terraglio).
Tomorrow, Sunday 4 August, it will be marked with a red
sticker on the A4 motorway, towards Trieste also due to the
first returns of tourists. Traffic is intense, with a strong
presence of vehicles along the motorways but there are no
particular critical issues.
In the afternoon Autostrade Alto Adriatico announced that at
4pm there was already an increase in exits at the toll booths of
+4% compared to the same Saturday a year ago. Overall,
therefore, the forecast is to exceed 190 thousand transits.
Autostrade AA confirmed that the day has so far continued
without any particular problems along the entire network.
Although the tendency is to also travel during the other days
of the week (average of +2% with a maximum peak of +4% on
Thursday), many - in particular foreign tourists - have planned
Saturday as their departure day. With the particularity that -
compared to 2023 - arrivals at the Lisert barrier in Trieste
occurred not in the early morning, but around lunchtime with
queues reaching a maximum of 4 kilometers starting from 1pm.
Lisert which, however , has so far recorded a 2% drop in
outgoing transits.
Approximately 3000 transits were achieved between San Giorgio
di Nogaro and the Palmanova hub where slowdowns occurred due to
vehicles heading not only towards the Lisert, but also towards
the mountains or returning from the sea, a sort of mini
counter-exodus. Queues at times between San Donà and Portogruaro
where the construction site for the third lane without any more
restrictions and diversions has not created any particular
problems.
Finally full squares in San Donà, Cessalto, where the queue
ended at 4pm, Palmanova, Villesse and Redipuglia. Tomorrow,
Sunday 4 August, will be a day marked by a red dot on the A4
motorway towards Trieste. In this case the forecast is around
160 thousand transits. The ban on heavy vehicles will take
effect from 7am to 10pm.
