The 33rd edition of Mittelfest, a festival featuring prose, music, dance, and circus from Central Europe, will commence tomorrow in Cividale del Friuli (Udine).
This year, the festival is dedicated to the theme "Disorders" and will run until July 28. It will showcase 29 artistic projects from 17 countries.
The festival is directed by Giacomo Pedini and will open with a music performance called "Happy Concert" in Piazza Duomo, featuring the Fvg Orchestra and the duo Igudesman & Joo on violin and piano. They will perform a diverse repertoire, including works by Mozart, Strauss, the Beatles, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, as well as Pharrell Williams, creating a musical "zapping" to start the festival with an engaging and exciting musical disorder, as explained by the artistic director.
In addition to the musical performance, two other events are scheduled for the opening day. These include the "Orders and Disorders" exhibition at the Galleria Spazio Cortequattro, which is dedicated to the renowned artists Giuseppe Zigaina (1924-2015) and Emilio Vedova (1919-2006) and is a result of collaboration with the art publisher and printer Federico Santini. Another event is the Adelaide Ristori Award ceremony at the Teatro Ristori's smaller stage, which has been awarded annually since 1998 by the Soroptimist International of Italy - Club of Cividale del Friuli to the best artist of the previous Mittelfest edition.
This year, the Adelaide Ristori Award will be given to Ksenija Martinović, the author and performer of "Tesla" at Mittelfest 2023. This performance, based on the actress's research and built on her performing body, intertwines the final stages of Nikola Tesla's story and his relationship with Wall Street with our present day.
