Yesterday, a wildfire in the
hinterland of Makarska, Croatia, threatened the tourist resort
of Tučepi. However, firefighters were able to prevent the fire
from threatening the homes overnight. Local media reported on
the operation, which involved 240 men and two Canadairs. The
fire spread 12 km this morning, affecting a wooded area in
Biokovo's protected nature park, Mediterranean scrub, olive
groves, and vineyards. For the time being, the fire is far from
the tourist areas along the coast, there have been no injuries
or deaths, and there are no plans to evacuate residential areas.
