Autostrade Alto Adriatico is
anticipating heavy traffic flows entering Lisert due to the
counter-exodus and the return of vacationers from Croatia and
Slovenia. This coming weekend, an estimated 27,000 vehicles will
enter the Trieste toll gate on Saturday and around 26,000 on
Sunday. Last year, there were traffic jams of up to 7 kilometers
between 12 PM and 5 PM on Saturday and a maximum of 4 kilometers
between 1 PM and 5 PM on Sunday.
The road scenario in the section between Sistiana and Lisert
has changed due to reconstruction work on the Sistiana overpass,
managed by Fvg Strade. The Sistiana exit remains closed in both
directions towards Venice. To ease congestion and not burden the
local road network, Autostrade Alto Adriatico has collaborated
with Dars (Slovenian Motorways) so that using the H4 route
(Podnanos-Vrtoiba) with reentry onto the A34 (Gorizia-Villesse)
is recommended if necessary. Variable message signs indicate
this route from 8 AM to 8 PM tomorrow, Sunday, and the following
weekend.
In preparation for the counter-exodus, Autostrade Alto
Adriatico has increased its toll booth staff at the Lisert and
Villesse tolls. Tomorrow, a "black day" on the traffic calendar,
intermittent traffic jams may also occur on the A4 in the
Villesse-Nodo di Palmanova section and the two-lane section
between Portogruaro and San Donà due to the simultaneous influx
and return of tourists.
