According to data from the Greek
Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, which Kathimerini reported,
Greece experienced the highest number of migrant flows since
2019 this year. This increase primarily happened in the Evros
region, on the Turkish border, and along previously untraveled
routes, like those to the islands of Crete and Gavdos and the
coast of Laconia. Last year, 4,660 migrants entered the country
within the first four months. From the beginning of this year to
April, the number of arrivals has already reached 11,835; this
represents a 154% increase over the same period last year.
