Brussels has stepped up its legal
action against Hungary's "national sovereignty law," arguing it
violates a wide range of fundamental rights, Euronews reports.
The European Commission has taken Hungary to court over a highly
contentious law that Budapest claims is necessary to protect
"national sovereignty," but which NGOs have condemned as a
dangerous tool for targeting and eventually silencing opposing
voices. The lawsuit is the next step in the Commission's legal
action, which began in February, in response to Budapest's
"unsatisfactory" answers.
