"Too many deaths have taught us
not to accept the old and new seeds of hatred and prejudice. We
want borders to be hinges and bridges, not walls or trenches! We
want it because it is a testament to those who died at the
border. We also want those who, at the cost of terrible
suffering, became migrants and asked to be considered what they
are: people," said Cardinal Matteo Zuppi during the opening
ceremony of the Social Week of Italian Catholics, in Trieste.
