Serbs in the northern part of
Mitrovica protested Wednesday against the possibility of
reopening the main bridge on the Ibar River, which was announced
by the government in Pristina. According to local media,
demonstrators unanimously opposed the bridge's opening. On
Tuesday, the NATO mission in Kosovo warned Kosovo's authorities
against attempting to reopen a bridge in the divided city of
Mitrovica that has long separated Serbs and ethnic Albanians, a
move that could cause significant tensions in the region.
