In 2022, the 13 EU countries that
produce nuclear electricity generated 609,255 gigatonne hours
(GWh) of nuclear energy (-16.7% less than in 2021), according to
Eurostat data. This is the lowest level recorded since 1990, the
first year for which comparable data for all EU countries is
available. Despite this, nuclear power plants accounted for more
than a fifth of total electricity production in the EU (21.8%).
