(ANSA-AFP) - VILINIUS, 26 MAG - Lithuania's outgoing
president, Gitanas Nauseda, has won the second round of the
presidential runoff. The challenger, Premier Ingrida Simonyte,
conceded defeat. The runoff between the outgoing president,
Nauseda, and the prime minister, Simonyte, had ended at 7 p.m.
local time (6 p.m. in Italy). According to data provided by the
Central Electoral Commission of Lithuania, the voter turnout
stood at 49.6 percent, which was far below not only the record
turnout of the first round (59.4 percent), but also that of the
runoff five years ago (53.4 percent). (ANSA-AFP).
