The Alexandroupolis FSRU Terminal
will begin commercial operations on Tuesday, transforming the
city into a new energy gateway for Central and Southeast Europe,
according to operating company Gastrade, the daily Kathimerini
reported.
The Alexandroupolis LNG Terminal is made up of the Fsru and a
subsea and onshore natural gas pipeline that connects the
floating unit to the National Natural Gas Transmission System
and delivers natural gas outside of Greece to Bulgaria, Romania,
North Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine to the east, as
well as Hungary and Slovakia to the west. The Floating Unit,
known as "Alexandroupolis," has a maximum regasification
capacity of 5.5 billion cubic metres annually.
