On Thursday, the Slovenian
government unanimously confirmed Marta Kos as the country's
candidate for EU Commissioner. Deputy Prime Minister Matej Arcon
emphasised the importance of Kos being assigned the enlargement
and European neighbourhood portfolio, citing Ukraine's
reconstruction and enlargement as one of the Commission's top
priorities. Kos received approval from parliament yesterday,
with the EU Affairs Committee voting 9:5 in favour of issuing
its non-binding opinion on Wednesday, the news agency STA
reported.
