Following the suspension of the
Schengen agreement, arrests by Trieste's border police continue
as part of border checks with Slovenia. From August 14 to
September 16, 11 people were arrested at border crossings, the
majority of them in Fernetti. Another four were apprehended
during operations aimed at stemming the flow of migrants via the
Balkan route. This totals 15 arrests: 10 in flagrante delicto, 7
for aiding irregular immigration and 3 for violating the
re-entry ban, and 5 for carrying out judicial orders.
