Former Serie A midfielder and coach
Aldo Agroppi died in on Thursday morning in the Tuscan city of
Piombino, near Livorno.
He was 80.
Agroppi was in hospital where he was being treated for
pneumonia, according to well-informed sources.
As a soccer player, he debuted with the youth team of his
hometown of Piombino.
His career took off when he played for Torino, Genoa, Ternana,
Potenza and Perugia.
He donned the jersey of the Italian national team five times
before embarking in a long career as coach that ended at
Fiorentina in 1993, after which he became a television
commentator.
