Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) national rail company's complaint to authorities about a suspicious string of incidents causing severe disruption to services lately is very concerning and the matter must be cleared up immediately, the transport ministry said Wednesday.
The complaint of the FS group to the authorities "is a relevant and very worrying fact and the ministry hopes for clarity as soon as possible", it said in a statement.
The ministry said that it "takes note with extreme attention of the initiative of the FS group that has decided to present a complaint to the authorities in light of too many suspicious episodes that have had repercussions on rail traffic".
It added that "the deputy prime minister and transport minister Matteo Salvini is following with the utmost care all the problems relating to transport and - on the subject of railways - has always called for the need to guarantee a high-level service despite the record numbers of construction sites, passengers and trains in circulation that are putting pressure on all rail transport".
