"The attacks we have seen in
recent days on the Unifil blue helmets are simply unacceptable;
we ask all parties to respect the UN mandate," said Alexander
Schallenberg, Austrian Federal Minister for European and
International Affairs, upon arrival at the Foreign Affairs
Council in Luxembourg. "Austria is one of the EU's most
pro-Israel countries. We are not spectators; we have 120
soldiers in the bases, we are very concerned, and we have called
Israel to clearly explain our position: they will not withdraw,
they will continue their mission, and we expect all parties to
ensure their safety," he added.
