The ZEW Indicator of Economic
Sentiment for Germany fell significantly again in the September
2024 survey, the ZEW Institute reported today. At 3.6 points, it
is 15.6 points lower than the August value. The assessment of
Germany's economic situation has also worsened. The
corresponding indicator fell 7.2 points, reaching a new low of
-84.5 points. As a result, the current economic situation has
been assessed at its lowest level since May 2020, ZEW noted.
"The hope for a swift improvement in the economic situation
is visibly fading. In the latest survey, we once again observe a
noticeable decline in economic expectations for Germany," said
ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach on the survey results.
