A cross-border regatta will bring Slovenian sailors to Barcolana: For the ninth consecutive year, the "Go to Barcolana from Slovenia—I Feel Slovenia" event will take place on October 12, the day before the Autumn Cup. The occasion to present the initiative and, more generally, the 56th edition of the "Barcolana presented by Generali" was a meeting held today in Koper (Slovenia).
The Sailing Society of Barcola and Grignano organizes the cross-border regatta in collaboration with the Slovenian Sailing Federation, the Confederation of Slovenian Sports Clubs in Italy, and the Pirat Portorož Sailing Club.
The Go to Barcolana from Slovenia will start on October 12 at 10 AM from Portorož. The finish will occur in the afternoon before Piazza Unità d'Italia, followed by a crew reception and an award ceremony. Registration is open on the official event website. "Competitiveness, enthusiasm, passion, and fun," said Mitja Gialuz, president of the SVBG, "are the key ingredients of the Go to Barcolana from Slovenia. Slovenia and its sailors have always played a central role in the Barcolana, and it's a joy to see how this regatta continues to grow and engage more and more enthusiasts." According to TPK Sirena President Igor Filipčič, "the Go to Barcolana from Slovenia is much more than just a regatta: it's a symbol of cooperation and a shared passion for sailing." "This year as well," said Mitja Margon, president of the Pirat Portorož Sailing Club, "we are happy to support the initiative to strengthen ties among Italian, Slovenian, and Croatian sailors. We hope that even more crews will participate in this year's race."
